Indian Recipes are full of spices and flavours. Kebabs, originally from the middle-east region, are also popular in Indian Cuisine. They have a variety of Kebabs in India. Traditionally, Kebab is made with meat, usually mutton or lamb. But in various regions, it can be made with other types of meat too.
But in my house, my parents are strictly vegetarian, so we can’t cook any meat recipes in the house. In this post, we will be making an Indian Recipe: Veg Seekh kebab.
Typically, kebabs are cooked in skewers, but in India, they have various ways to cook. The Indian recipe we are making today is deep-fried and very crispy. We make these Veg Seekh Kebabs as evening snacks with Indian Chai.

Step by Step Indian Recipe: Veg Seekh Kebab
Step 1 – Soak the Urad dal for an hour or so. Make sure that the dal is soft enough for grinding.

Step 2- Grind the dal in the mixer and add a little water, enough to make a thick paste-like texture.

Step 3- Mash the boiled potatoes in a plate. Make sure the potatoes are well mashed. Now mix the grinded dal with the potatoes.
Step 4- Grate the cabbage and the carrots and keep them aside. Also, finely chop the capsicum and green coriander.

Step 5- Add all these vegetables to the potatoes and dal mixture. Add the grated ginger also into it.
Step 6- Add salt according to your taste, 1/4 tablespoon garam masala, 1/4 tablespoon cumin powder to the mixture.
Step 7- Chop 3-4 green chilli ( optional ) and add to the mixture. Add grated green coriander also to the mixture. The mixture for the kebab is ready.

Step 8- Take the refined flour in a bowl and add black pepper according to your spice level. Now add a little water to make it like a paste. After the paste is ready, put in a small plate.
Step 9- Make small cylindrical balls of the kebab mixture with hands and put the ice cream stick through it. Meanwhile, you can take frying bowl and put oil for heating on the gas.

Step 10- After making 3-4 balls, roll these balls in the flour. In order to cover the outside layer of the ball in flour. Now roll these balls in the bread crumbs.
Step 11- Now that the oil is hot enough, add the Seekh kabab in the hot oil. Be cautious while handling hot oil, I always end up getting some drops of it on my hands. Haha!

Step 12- Leave them in the pan for a few minutes until they turn a bit brown in colour. Make sure they get brown from all the sides.
Step 13- Now take them out of the oil, and serve them in a plate with Mayonnaise, ketchup or any sauce that you like. In India, we make green Chutney ( it’s a spicy green chilli and coriander sauce). And your seekh kebab is ready to eat.
